Modern ways on how to show your Filipinos' sense of NATIONALISM!

Are you a Filipino? How are you so sure? How do you consider yourself as one of the citizens of the "Pearl of the Orient Seas"? Are you proud of your raise or the country itself? If you are, how are you able you able to show your way of nationalism to our dear country, Philippines? After answering this blog w/ full honesty, reflect again and take time to read this blog of mine.

In the time of the Spanish-colonial era, Filipinos had already shown their own way of Nationalism. How? Some fought using their pens and tongues, while some used the power of their arms and weapons. Each had their own way of showing their love an respect to our country. Some even died! And by these, they were able to get back the freedom of our country that we, nowadays enjoy.

But nowadays, did anyone of you noticed on how some Filipinos show their sense of Nationalism? In this part, you could read some ideas on how some Filipinos show their nationalism to our country.

WORK - ACT – PARTICIPATE – RESPECT – STAND PROUD - LOVE
(Let us work on our own. Act today, and participate in the government! Respect everyone including others’ raise. Stand proud for who you are. Love everyone as how you expect they would love you back!)

 1.  Do not depend everything and then blame our government but make yourselves productive and useful to the country instead! Why? Because some of the Filipinos blame the government for every negative things that would strike our country. Yes, there are some political position holders are corrupt. But not all of them! The only problem here is we depend to much o our government and then we will blame them after. I suggest that we should learn to stand on our  own feet and make ourselves productive and useful not only to ourselves but to all as well.

2. All of us media n our everyday lives of course. Don’t you know that by using this media, we could already show our being nationalistic to our country? How? By simply using the media in a good way and also in helping others. In the previous calamities that attacked our country, some of our fellow Filipinos used the power of media in extending their help to others. They posted some information on how the other people could help the people who are greatly affected by these disasters. Everything on Earth has its own good purpose. Let us use media in a good way and not on the opposite one. Time may have changed, technology may have advanced, and Philippine history may have been written down with stories of different characters, time, scenarios, and events. Yet the message and the theme of the story remained clear - Patriotism, Nationalism, and Heroism. To this day, we have been fighting for our principle, and we have never budged in. Filipinos are like diamonds, the more we chip it the more it shines.

3. The heroism of overseas Filipino workers abroad is a paragon proof of human sacrifice for the love of family and the love for country. To be away from home and deal with the difficulties of life in a country whom you knew no one and to risk yourself into a lot of foreboding perils are exemplary especially when serving a well-formulated mission of helping the needs of our family back home by sending remittances that would in turn help boost the country's economy, making it more stable through the dollar reserves. For most Filipinos, the essence of existence is to make their family and their country a part of their lasting commitment. They may even express commitment to unpopular decisions that are born to benefit the majority (meaning, our extended families). We feel a strong attachment to our commitments. Filipinos make an all out effort working around the clock over the weekend drudgeries, and making personal sacrifices. These values, teamed with bottomless reservoir of patience, were inculcated to our young minds by our beloved parents.

4. Nationalism is also self-evident especially in spite of Filipino diaspora all over the world. More than 8 million Filipinos now outside the Philippines support Philippine-made goods and products. With the advent of information-based world economy propelled by free trade, market economy, and open capital markets, everything is possible. I especially like mangoes , avocado, and papaya.  The Philippine products in all modesty meet the quality standards of global competition.

5. The migrant Filipinos who practically grew most of their lives abroad almost always come back to the Philippines and explore our beautiful beaches and the feature sights offered by a country comprising of 7,107 islands. Filipinos like my mom and most housewives keep a regular subscription of TFC to get in touch with everything Filipino, to forget homesickness while in abroad, and to instill the Filipino values we see on TV to their children that they will be able to preclude our propensities of adapting or copying the culture of our adopted country.

6. Everywhere you go you will recognize a person a Filipino because he or she has always been respectful to the elders and others, using the hackneyed but definitely classic "ho", "oho", "po" and "opo". And even while in abroad we have kept ourselves in the prism of our national uniqueness with our passionate affair to our political, social and economic freedom as the zenith of our concern. We may be full of plurality in terms of our divided islands, language, religion, and ethnicity but we do share a common LOVE for our country, and vision for a better Philippines.

Here are, some examples of PROUD TO BE PINOYS:

1. When you are teaching your children and grandchildren how to speak our language as their first language even thou they are not born in the Philippines.

2. When you tell the children/grandchildren about our culture (find time to let them know ALL what they should know no matter how busy parents are)

3. When the family is participating in any/all Filipino activities in the community

4. When you are not ashamed to tell where you really came from (NOT FROM MANILA but from the province you were born) when asked by foreigners as well as other pinoys.

5. When you defend yourself from bad comments about your country, most of the foreigners have NO REAL IDEA of what our country and the people are--what they learn came from the media that criticize our politics, crime-etc--we have to remember that there is no such as PERFECT COUNTRY-PERFECT PEOPLE

6. When you showed to other nationals that we have unity in helping the pinoys in any part of the world whenever they need our suppot for any major disaster/issues.

7. When you tell others that you are still interested to visit Pinas if you are out of our country--still have a lot of good places that am sure all of us have not visited yet till now.

8. When YOU/WE PATRONIZE OUR VERY OWN PRODUCTS BEFORE ANY IMPORTED ONES--EVEN FOREIGN IDEAS.

9. When you are not afraid to SPEAK OUT YOUR LANGUAGE IN FOREIGN COUNTRIES.

Wearing items which symbolizes the country do count, yet, being proud of your nationality is in the HEART. I’m not trying to sound exaggerated, but, you could really feel it through you mind and spirit that you’re a true-blooded Filipino.

Your heart and soul proudly screaming, “I’m a Filipino just like …!”-you name it, people who made Philippines/Filipinos once again on the spotlight which is something to be proud of.

More often than not, when you’re in a foreign country, your little acts already symbolize the Filipino people, the whole Philippines. It’s a matter of how/what you want Filipinos to be known as by your foreign folks, considerably, you represent the whole nation.

Practical ways:

Support and buy local products.

Support local cultures such as music, arts, dance, literature, etc.

Do something or help for the greater good for mother country.

Love and care for your fellowmen.

Discipline yourself, obey laws.

Speak up.

Do your best in all.
